The Donaghmore High Cross

The Donaghmore High Cross is thought to date from the 10th century. It is located in Donaghmore, Northern Ireland and stands just outside the churchyard wall in the village street.
The large sandstone cross at 4.8 meters high is situated at the west end of the village.
According to records this historical Ireland cross once stood within the Abbey grounds but was seriously damaged in the late 17th century during religious conflicts. The fragments were later reassembled and set up in it's present location.
It appears to be reconstructed of either, two separate fragments joined together, or perhaps two fragments of the same cross.
The following scenes from the bible are found on
the East face of the cross
The Angels announcing to the shepherds
Worship of the Magi
Baptism of Christ
Marriage feast in Cana
The Fishes and Loves
Arrest of Jesus
Crucifixion
